A scintillating century from Sam Evison helped Bourne knock reigning champions Lindum off top spot in the Lincolnshire Premier League on Saturday.

Evison struck an unbeaten 127 not out as Bourne beat the previous leaders by nine wickets at the Abbey Lawn.

It was a brutal display of batting by Evison who thumped 14 fours and eight sixes in his undefeated innings which lasted just 65 balls.

Rob Cook had earlier made an unbeaten century for Lindum as he closed on 102 not out as the visitors posted 208-6.

The match had been reduced to 41 overs due to rain with Corey Young the pick of the home attack with 3-39.

Evison and Jack Berry got the Bourne reply off to a flying start as they put on 132 runs for the opening wicket.

Cook claimed the wicket of the Bourne skipper for 60 which featured seven fours and three sixes.

However, there was no stopping the hosts as Jordan Temple hit an unbeaten 18 in an 88-run stand with Evison to guide Bourne home in just 23 overs.

The defeat saw Lindum leapfrogged by both new leaders Woodhall Spa and Scunthorpe in the league table.

Spalding had made 149-8 after batting first with Keyan Gace top-scoring with 30 while Harsh Bhandari was unbeaten on 25 at the close.

Opener Usman Minhas then led the home side's charge to victory with an unbeaten 63 as they triumphed with four-and-a-half overs to spare.

Barnaby Dring, Gace and Divyeash Vaseeharan all picked up a wicket each for Spalding who remain 10th in the 12-team division.

Dan George produced an excellent all-round display as Market Deeping defeated bottom of the table Long Sutton in a high-scoring clash at Outgang Road.

George took three wickets to help dismiss Long Sutton for 256 with Marcus Telford also claiming 3-21 from his six over spell.

Opener Nathan Oliver had made 62 for Long Sutton who recovered well from 47-4 after George and Telford took out the top order.

Paul Edgeller (60), Dan Oldfield (45), Jake Burton (25) and Josh Baker (30) then all helped Sutton post a challenging target.

Deeping started well in their reply with Josh Smith smashing 11 fours and a six in his 64 after an opening stand of 79 with Connor Gillett.

Skipper James Hook then hit 32 but his departure left Deeping on 169-7 until George was joined at the crease by Vaughn Williams.

They put on a superb unbroken stand of 90 with George hitting eight boundaries in his 67 not out while Williams was unbeaten on 34 at the close as Deeping passed their target with seven balls remaining.

Deeping travel to league leaders Lindum on Saturday with Long Sutton hosting Bourne while Spalding entertain Sleaford.
