He joined Peterborough's academy at six and debuted for the first team in a pre-season friendly at 15.

His professional career began in January 2019, and he quickly made his mark in the league.

Notably, he scored two crucial goals in the EFL Trophy final, helping Peterborough secure a 2-1 victory over Wycombe Wanderers.

Speaking to Sheffield United's website, Burrows described the move as a perfect step in his career.

The former Posh captain said: "It's been a long time coming, but I'm thrilled it's done. I've been focusing on pre-season with Peterborough, and now I'm here, ready to prove myself on the pitch.

"Peterborough means a lot to me, but I'm eager for this new challenge.

“It’s time to step up. I’m relishing another chance in the Championship.

“The size of the club speaks for itself – the manager and the players that’s already come in this summer, it was a given for me really.

“The manager has told me what he wants from me and I’m excited by the type of games that I’ll be playing in.”

Burrows, whose brother Josh is a first-team regular for March Town, made a total of 185 appearances for Peterborough United in all competitions, scoring 20 goals, and also helped them win promotion to the Championship in 2021.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder praised Burrows' patience and commitment while the move was being finalised.

Wilder said: "His desire to play here is clear. Despite interest from other clubs, he waited, showing his belief in our club.

"His versatility will be a significant asset for us throughout a competitive Championship season."
