Pinchbeck United beat Dussindale and Hellesdon in the Thurlow Nunn League
Three first half goals helped Pinchbeck United record back-to-back wins for the second time this season in the Thurlow Nunn League on Saturday.
The Knights returned from their Division One North trip to Dussindale and Hellesdon with a 3-2 away success after all of their goals came in the opening period.
JJ Ward, Flynn Slater and Logan Tate were all on target for the Knights who had to produce a strong rearguard action in the second half to keep their hosts at bay.
Manager Lewis Thorogood said: "Dussindale are a very direct side who bombard the box and I can see why they have picked up results.
"We went in at half-time 3-1 ahead but it didn't feel like a 3-1 kind of performance because we weren't moving the ball like we wanted to.
"I hoped we had ironed those bits and pieces out at half-time but we just froze in the second half for some reason and they bombarded us.
"We did manage to hold out so you've got to be pleased with the three points but it was an ugly win because it wasn't a great performance."
Pinchbeck made a steady start and took the lead when Luke Cullen beat a couple of players to tee up Ward who drove home a fine finish from the edge of the area.
The Knights were then pegged back when they conceded a penalty which Dussindale converted to equalise.
The visitors had a chance to regain the lead when Slater struck the inside of the post with a shot which rebounded to Tate who was unable to get his effort away with the goal at his mercy before the Dussindale defence recovered to block.
Slater produced a similar surge to put Pinchbeck back in front as he drove his finish into the bottom corner of the home net.
Tate then converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time to give Pinchbeck a 3-1 lead to take into the interval.
However, the second half was a different story as Dussindale dominated and came close to cutting the deficit with a shot that hit the underside of the crossbar.
Harry Wallace also cleared a shot off the line as Pinchbeck managed to hold out despite Dussindale netting their second goal of the game.
Pinchbeck are in League Cup action on Tuesday night when they travel to Premier Division side Heacham for a third round tie.
Heacham are second-from-bottom of the table while Pinchbeck are just five points outside of the play-off places with games in hand on most of the sides above them.
Thorogood said: "I think we go there with a little bit more confidence than they do.
"We will be giving it everything so we'll be going there with a view to getting a result and it will be good to challenge ourselves against a step five side again."
Pinchbeck then return to Division One North action on Saturday with a home match against Framlingham at the Sir Halley Stewart ground.
