South Lincs & Border League: Billingborough opener Dylan Garfoot scores 181 to set up a huge win against Boston 2nds
Billingborough opener Dylan Garfoot smashed 181 off 106 balls to set up a huge win against Boston 2nds in the South Lincs & Border League on Saturday.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Garfoot and Mikey Atkinson (44) put on 184 runs for the second wicket after fellow opener David Newman was dismissed one run short of a half-century.
Runs were easy to find against the Boston bowlers with James Zealand (41 off 27 balls), Aaron Green (23 off 17), Robert Arnold (21 off 12) and Jacob Light (33 off 17) all managing to find the boundary on multiple occasions, completing 45 overs with a mammoth 459-7 on the scoreboard.
With the ball, Billingborough were just as ruthless, Green picking up five wickets as Boston were skittled out for 75.
Elsewhere in Division 1, Long Sutton 2nds were bowled out for 79 in pursuit of 261 against Orton Park.
Market Deeping 2nds also fell well short in a run chase, slipping to 118 all out after being set a victory target of 242 by Freiston L&L.
In the Championship, Moulton Harrox had no game last weekend and were replaced at the top of the table by Newborough.
They return to action this Saturday when they host Ketton Sports at the Harrox Playing Field (12.30pm).
Bourne 2nds were deducted 10 points after conceding their home game against Ketton last Saturday.
Long Sutton did have a game in the Championship, away to Skegness, losing by 141 runs.
Skegness won the toss and batted first, posting 269-5 off 45 overs.
Norman Brackley was the main man for the Seasiders, hitting an unbeaten 159, to the frustration of the Long Sutton bowling attack who had claimed early success.
Josh Baker had found the Skegness openers offering less resistance, claiming the wickets of both.
Charith Harshana trapped their captain leg before for an eight-ball duck but the home side recovered from 25-3 thanks to Brackley’s century innings.
In reply, Long Sutton openers Tim Norris (31) and Jake Burton (19) made a solid start, with a 60-run partnership, but early hope faded after they slipped to to 65-4.
Daniel Oldfield (25) and Harshana (22) attempted to get them back on track but they finished well short in the end, crumbling to 128 all out, losing their final five wickets for just five runs.
Baston won the battle at the bottom of the Division 2 table at home to Spalding 2nds.
It’s now four defeats from four for Spalding after an 83-run loss at The Shrine.
Baston were put into bat and were 172 all out. In reply, Spalding managed 89.
