Player-manager Jake Walton could not have asked for a better first half, as his side took a 2-0 lead through an own goal and a superb lob from captain Dan Aust.

With YDP having scored 30 goals in their previous four matches – including 13 from Luke Steele alone – everyone in the Stamford camp knew the job was far from finished.

Disaster struck shortly after the restart when Jamie Milner, who has become instrumental for the Daniels, had to be carried off the pitch.

Defeat means the reserves’ full focus now turns to the league and the push for promotion, beginning with a local derby against Stamford Lions at Borderville Sports Centre on Saturday.
