South Lincs and Border League cricket round-up
Josh Newton continued his fine form to help Moulton Harrox return to winning ways in the South Lincs and Border League on Saturday.
Newton followed up last week's unbeaten century with another undefeated innings as his 89 not out helped Harrox to a five-wicket win over Grantham 2nds.
The visitors had been restricted to 146-9 from their 40 overs as Matt Rose, Robbie Townsend, Blake Wolstenholme and Lee Eyett all took two wickets each.
Newton then came to the crease after the early loss of Wolstenholme to help Moulton overcome a tough start.
They had slipped to 41-4 but Newton nurtured a successful run chase as he put on 57 for the fifth wicket with Rose who made 18.
Flynn McMillan then joined Newton to steer Harrox home with an unbeaten 18 while Newton smashed 16 boundaries in his match-winning innings.
Billingborough remain in the relegation zone with five matches remaining after a 50-run reversal at Boston.
They could only muster 101-9 in their innings after bowling Boston out for 151.
Long Sutton 2nds leapfrogged their Market Deeping counterparts in the Division One table after a convincing 112-run win at Paradise Field.
Sutton made 201-7 from their 45 overs after batting first with Thilina Dilshan top-scoring with 52 while Phil Barnes made 42.
Kester Sainsbury, Ross Lowndes and Fabrizio Dagnano all took two wickets each for Deeping who were dismissed for 89 in reply.
Parwaz Safi top-scored with 23 while Uddyan Hansana led the Sutton attack with 4-19 from eight overs while Aron John collected 3-9.
Spalding 2nds suffered a heavy 247-run defeat against Division One leaders Ketton Sports.
The Rutland side racked up 333-7 from their 45 overs with Macey Andrews taking three wickets for Spalding.
The visitors were bowled out for 86 in reply with Thomas Preston and Michael Kearns top-scoring with 26 and 24 respectively.
Baston were narrow winners by five runs in their home Division Two tussle with Orton Park 2nds.
The hosts made 160-7 from their 45 overs with Ben Hudson hitting 54 and opener Jonathan Digby making 33.
Digby then took 3-30 from his nine overs while both Dhruv Virani and David Conlon were economical in similar stints with 2-25 and 0-14 respectively as Orton finished on 155-9.
Moulton Harrox 2nds were four-wicket winners at Grantham with opener Anish Suwarneraj leading a successful run chase by scoring a half-century.
Grantham had been restricted to 174-5 after batting first with Suwarneraj scoring 52 in reply to help set Harrox on the road to victory.
Billingborough 2nds lost by four wickets at bottom of the table Belton Park.
Mark Pilgrim made 40 as Billingborough were bowled out for 110 with Aaron Bradshaw collecting a couple of wickets in Belton's successful run chase.
Spalding 3rds conceded their Division Three match with Ketton Sports 2nds.
