The Hereward Sports Pinchbeck and District Summer Darts League stages its finals night at Spalding Services Club




The Hereward Sports Pinchbeck and District Summer Darts League came to a conclusion with the finals night at Spalding Services Club.

The first game of the evening saw the Ward Trophy final contested between the Royal Mail Cart and The Green Dragon Z which went down to the final leg.

The Dragon raced into a 4-1 lead but the Mail Cart team fought back to make it all square with singles games wins for Reece Winkley, Stef Atudosei and Stu Page.

The final game was between Josh Ford (Royal Mail Cart) and Toby Lyons (Green Dragon Z) with Ford nailing the final double to win 2-1 and give the Mail Cart the trophy after a 5-4 success.

This was followed by the Division A pairs where the Consti Club C duo of Josh and Paul Faulkner and Harry Faulkner and Jacob Herd booked their place in the final.

They defeated Matt Broderick and Stu Ewins (Consti Club B) and Andy Mason and Stan Potter (Pinchbeck FC ) respectively, both games being won 2-0.

The family affair in the final pitted the father and son of Paul and Josh against another of Paul's sons, Harry, who teamed up with Jacob Herd to secure a 2-0 win.

The singles semi-finals for Division A saw Steve Gaughan and Paul Blow - both from the Lincoln Arms A - going through after victories over Jason Williams (Green Dragon A) and Craig Norbury (Services Club B).

The all-Lincoln Arms A contest in the final saw Gaughan run out a convincing 3-0 winner over his team-mate.

The B Division semi-finals saw Dean Murray (Services Club A) and Joby Booth (Kirton Leisure) book their place in the final by beating Josh Smith (Kirton Leisure) and Dean Peacock (Green Dragon Z).

Murray took the plaudits in the final after a 2-1 victory over Booth to deny the Kirton Leisure player a double triumph.

The Knockout Cup was the next event with the final between the Green Dragon A and Lincoln Arms A.

In a one-sided game, the Lincoln team ran out 8-1 victors to add the cup to their league title.

The only winners for the Dragon were Shayne Hubbard and Dan Martin against Jimmy Tenno and Karl Rolfe in the pairs.

The first singles final of the night was the Ladies Cup between Stacey Banister and Eva Spinks, both from the Lincoln Arms D, Stacey being triumphant with a 2-1 victory.

This was followed by the Captain's Cup final between Steve Stancer (Lincoln Arms A) and Stu Page (Royal Mail Cart) where in a close game Stancer took the title after winning 2-1.

The mixed pairs final saw Dan Gent and Stacey Banister face the father and daughter duo of Jason and Eydee Chilvers.

Gent and Banister took the title with a 2-0 win over their Lincoln Arms D team-mates.

The Division B pairs final saw Kirton Leisure team-mates Jamie Clark and Joby Booth win 2-0 against their club colleagues Josh Smith and Mark Ledger.

The final game of the evening was the prestigious Mark Tansley Trophy which was contested between last winter's singles champion Steve Stancer and the new summer singles winner Steve Gaughan, both from the Lincoln Arms A.

In a close game that was fitting for the final, it was Gaughan who hit the concluding double in a five leg thriller to win 3-2 and take his first Tansley Trophy title.

The committee would like to thank master of ceremonies Ian Tilley for another excellent evening and for all his help throughout the season along with Di Langston for the photographs on the night.
