The Peterborough Senior Cup final will be the last match as Crowland Town boss for Chris Lyon
Outgoing boss Chris Lyon wants his Crowland Town players to produce a performance that the club can be proud of in the final match of his tenure.
Lyon ends his two-and-a-half year stint with the Peterborough League club in the final of the Senior Cup tonight (Friday).
They take on Warboys Town at Stamford AFC's Zeeco Stadium (7.30pm) with Lyon determined to end on a high.
He said: "I've enjoyed the last couple of seasons being involved at Crowland and I can't thank Gianni Salerno enough for getting me involved.
"I appreciate all the help I've had throughout the season from the committee and a massive thank you has to go to our supporters who have been immense.
"Unfortunately we fell just short in the county cup and let ourselves down in the league title challenge, but we need to dust ourselves down and not feel sorry for ourselves.
"We have to make sure we put in a performance in the final that our club and supporters can be proud of."
Lyon led Crowland to a 21-game unbeaten run this season with 20 victories in the super sequence.
They reached the last four of the Lincolnshire Junior Cup before losing out to Ruston Sports in the semi-final at Snowden Field.
The Bees were also in contention for the Premier Division title but back-to-back defeats against eventual champions Uppingham Town ended their championship charge as they finished in second spot.
Lyon added: "We had't been getting what we deserved in the last few matches.
"We competed really well against Uppingham twice but lost both games.
"It's been a roller-coaster of a season after the cup runs and finishing in the top four for the third season in a row.
"I believe there's definitely been improvement, on and off the field, and I'm disappointed that I have to step down but unfortunately changes in my personal life now means I can't commit enough to be a manager next season, so our match at Stamford will be my last whatever the result will be."
