Long Sutton and Parson Drove to meet in PDFL League Cup fourth round

Long Sutton manager Dan Monaghan is "expecting a stiff test" when his side face Parson Drove in the Chromasport Peterborough & District Football League Cup this Saturday.

Monaghan is hoping his side can bounce back from the semi-final loss against Netherton nearly three weeks ago in the Peterborough Senior Cup.

The Magpies drew 3-3 with Drove earlier in the season with Jake Clitheroe scoring two goals in that game.

"We're looking forward to the weekend to test ourselves against a strong Parson Drove side," explained Monaghan.

"I'm confident in our team and our ability to carry out our game plan like I always am.

"They've just signed Ollie Maltby who used to play two divisions higher with Pinchbeck, and he's a very good player.

"But, I don't think he's any better than Clitheroe, and on his day he's one of, if not, the best striker in the league.

"He's our captain and he leads by example, I used to have him when I was at Tydd (St.Mary) and I'm glad I brought him with me here.

"All the lads are looking to forward to the cup match and we want to go as far as we possibly can as well."

Another fourth round tie in the Senior Cup sees Moulton Harrox travel to Division Three side Farcet United.

Harrox surrendered a 4-1 league in their Premier Division clash at leaders Netherton United last Saturday.

Matters got worse for Harrox on Tuesday night when Netherton stretched their lead at the top to five points with a 3-0 win at Parson Drove.

Meanwhile, Holbeach United Reserves and Tydd are in Premier Division action on Saturday, taking on Peterborough Polonia and Thorney respectively.
