Matt Rose has been named as the new captain of Moulton Harrox Cricket Club

New first team captain Matt Rose is aiming to continue the legacy of his predecessor after taking over the reins at Moulton Harrox Cricket Club.

Rose is succeeding Mark 'Rambo' Ramsden as skipper of the South Lincs and Border Championship side following the death of the club stalwart last month.

Ramsden was seen as an important figure in the club's recent resurgence and Rose is determined to keep Harrox heading in the right direction.

He said: "This season will be extremely hard for the club.

"The ambition has to be to continue the legacy that Rambo created and push this forward.

"It's what he would have wanted and everything that the great man deserved.

"I'm excited for the season to come and I am proud to be a part of driving the club forward and hope to be half the leader Rambo was.

"Moulton Harrox have shown that we are not just a club but a family and this proves to me why we are what we are."

Rose is stepping up from vice-captain to skipper the side and he will be assisted by Josh Newton.

Chairman Dipan Suwarneraj said: "It has been a challenging few weeks for all of us at Moulton Harrox Cricket Club as we come to terms with the loss of our dearest friend and club captain, Rambo.

"He was the heart and soul of our club and, while moving forward has been difficult, we know he would have wanted us to keep striving to make Moulton Harrox the best it has ever been.

"Let's honour his legacy by working together to achieve this.

"Rosey has worked under the guidance of Rambo for several seasons, sharing both passion and a drive to make Moulton Harrox successful.

"We are proud of the step that Rosey is taking and he has our full support as we look forward to a positive start to this season."

All-rounder Rose will be embarking on his sixth season with Moulton having previously played for Market Deeping.
