South Lincs and Border League round-up




Moulton Harrox defied the elements to maintain their perfect start to the South Lincs and Border League Championship campaign on Saturday.

They defeated Skegness by 58 runs in rain-affected match to record their seventh successive league win and maintain top spot in the standings.

The match was reduced to 35 overs and Moulton made 194-2 after being put into bat by their hosts.

Despite the early loss of Ruari Drumm, fellow opener Jamie Juckes hit nine boundaries before falling one run short of his half-century.

Captain Matt Rose then joined Josh Newton at the crease and they produced an unbroken stand of 104 for the third wicket.

Newton blasted 10 boundaries in his 88 not out while Rose closed undefeated on 37.

Moulton then took wickets at regular intervals throughout the Skegness reply as the seasiders closed on 160-8.

Harry Lovell took 3-35 while Rose and Flynn McMillan both bagged a brace each.

Bourne 2nds were unable to repeat last week's win over their Grantham counterparts as they lost by nine wickets in the return fixture.

Bourne with bowled out for just 68 with Grant Van Rensburg and James Tickler the only visiting batsmen to make double figures.

Matthew Barry claimed 5-19 from nine overs for Grantham who wrapped up the win inside 12 overs.

Long Sutton's match at Ketton Sports was abandoned after just two overs of the visitors' reply.

Ketton had been dismissed for 168 after being put into bat but Long Sutton's reply had hardly started before rain stopped play.

Moulton Harrox 2nds were beaten by 54 runs in their top against bottom clash with Freiston in Division One.

The league leaders had posted 219-5 from their 35 overs with Uddyan Hansana taking a couple of wickets for Moulton.

Harrox hit 169-6 in their reply with Thilina Dilshan unbeaten on 60 after Danny Jackson had added 40 to the home side's total.

Billingborough won a low-scoring match at Ancaster by three wickets.

They had dismissed their hosts for 83 with Aaron Green grabbing 3-8 from his six overs while Mikey Atkinson and Aaron Pullum both picked up two wickets each.

Green then capped a man of the match performance by guiding Billingborough home with an unbeaten 34 after opener Jacob Light had led the reply with 23.

Market Deeping's home match with Burghley Park 2nds was abandoned just past the midway mark.

Burghley had been bowled out for 219 with P Safi taking 4-31 for Deeping while A Manzoor claimed 3-35.

Deeping were 87-4 in their reply with Manzoor 26 not out in the 17th over when rain ended play.

Baston opened their Division Two campaign with a 57-run away success at Grantham 3rds.

Stan Wojtala (45), Andy Burrill (38) and David Conlon (27) were the mainstays of the Baston innings as they made 162-7 from 35 overs.

Rajendra Rowthu then returned 4-28 while Conlon claimed 3-14 as Grantham were bowled out for 105 in reply.

Ollie Sneath struck a century on his Moulton Harrox debut as they defeated United Sports by 147 runs in Sunday's Rutland League clash.

Sneath smashed 11 fours a six in his 103 while Flynn McMillan made 71 in a 115-run opening stand as Moulton made 235-4 from their 40 overs.

Their Peterborough hosts were then bowled out for 88 in the Division Four East match as McMillan claimed 3-6 from his five-over spell.
