Lincolnshire Premier League and South Lincs and Border League cricket round-up

Spalding were celebrating their maiden win of the Lincolnshire Premier League campaign on Saturday.

They beat Nettleham by three wickets at Seas End Hall for their first victory of the season after back-to-back defeats.

Spalding had put their Lincoln visitors into bat after winning the toss and that looked to be a good decision as Nettleham slumped to 14-3.

A 77-run stand for the sixth wicket stalled Spalding before Barnaby Dring made the vital breakthrough with Walter Kinlock then chipping in with a couple of scalps to leave Nettleham on 159-9.

A defiant final wicket partnership of 46 was broken up when M Key bowled S Ashcroft to leave Nettleham 205 all out with last man J Butler unbeaten on 38.

Spalding lost an early wicket in their reply when Ollie Dring was dismissed for three but Jon Manton and Jamie Coles steadied the ship.

They put on 77 runs for the second wicket before Manton (39), Barnaby Dring and Chris Dring all departed in quick succession.

Coles also fell for 26 with Spalding on 102-5 but Bhandari and Kinlock rallied with a 56-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

Market Deeping are still seeking their first success of the season after losing by seven wickets at Grantham.

The visitors had made a decent 260-7 from their 50 overs after electing to bat first as they overcame the early losses of Connor Gillett and Josh Smith which left them on 15-2.

Sam Jarvis (35) and Aashar Mehmood (32) led the recovery with an 81-run partnership for the third wicket and, despite the duo departing soon after each other, George Woods and Sam Malton took over the baton.

Woods top-scored with 63 while Malton made 52 not out as Deeping registered their highest score of the season so far.

Wickets for Jarvis and Muhammad Salahuddin, along with a Dan George run out, left Grantham on 79-3 before Aqib Afzaal and Sakhumuzi Ndlela came together.
