The Tulips Supporters Club are fundraising to improve the floodlights at Spalding United Football Club
A fundraising campaign has been launched by the supporters of Spalding United to help improve the floodlights at the Sir Halley Stewart ground.
The Tulips Supporters Club are hoping to raise £10,000 to support the project which is vital to maintain the club's rise up the non-league pyramid.
The current floodlights - which have been in place for 45 years - do not meet the ground grading requirements going forward.
The Tulips are close to securing partial funding for the floodlights, however, the remainder will still need to be met by the club.
With chairman Andrew Killingsworth already committed to a £1 million redevelopment of the ground, the Supporters Club want to play their part in helping the Spalding cause.
They said: "As people of Spalding, we are extremely lucky to have a well-established football team and a town centre home ground for us all to enjoy.
"It also doesn't go unnoticed how hard our amazing volunteers work behind the scenes at the club to ensure everything runs smoothly during the season, off season and in between match days.
"We are very lucky as a club and fans to receive the gift from the chairman to enhance our stadium, however, there are still areas of it to be improved.
"As the Tulips Supporters Club, we are keen to help out in any way we can and, following discussions with the club, committee members were made aware of the improvements required to our current floodlights.
"The new floodlights will be more energy efficient, better quality and will give an all-round better match day experience for the fans.
"The new proposed LED floodlights will also enable matches to be televised in the future should the opportunity arise - perhaps a good cup run may also see us on television this year like other teams in our league – who knows what the 2025/26 season will bring."
The redevelopment project includes a pitch upgrade to a 3G playing surface, new covered standing areas and additional ground updates to enhance the matchday experience for Tulip fans.
The Supporters Club added: "It's certainly an exciting time to be a Tulips fan and, as a committee, we need your support to raise these all-important funds for our club.
"It's a chance for us to say thank you to our chairman for his continued support and generosity.
"As a community, we can all be a part of bringing a whole new meaning to 'Tuesday night under the lights.'"
The Supporters Club have kicked-off the fundraising with an £800 donation which included money raised at their quiz night.
They have started a GoFundMe campaign for donations which can be found at: gofund.me/ada77be0
