Spalding United host Quorn in the Southern League Premier Division Central

Manager Jimmy Dean is predicting a 'really good game of football' when his table-topping Tulips host high-flying Quorn tonight (Tuesday).

The match pits the Southern League Premier Division Central leaders against their third-placed visitors at the Sir Halley Stewart ground (7.45pm).

Quorn have made an impressive start to their season at step three after winning promotion last term and sit just three points behind Spalding.

The two teams are the leading goalscorers in the division with Spalding having netted 33 times in 13 games while Quorn have scored 29 from a similar sequence.

Dean said: "They're a very good side and everyone who I have spoken to about them speaks very highly.

"It's going to be a real test on a good surface so it will be a proper football match.

"We've just got to get our recovery right and try and get a game-plan together to impact what they do without knocking ourselves out of our rhythm.

"It will be a really good game of football and I'm urging everyone to come down and support us."

Spalding go into the match after a 2-0 away success at Alvechurch on Saturday in their 11th league match on their travels so far this season.

Second half goals from Jordan Nicholson and substitute Maniche Sano-Sani sealed the success after a much improved performance from the Tulips after the break.

Dean commented: "I was very pleased with the win because going to Alvechurch is as tough a test as they come at this level.

"It is a real acid test of where you are physically and mentally but we weren't there in the first half.

"I thought we were very flat and off a lot of the second balls.

"We couldn't get any rhythm into our game so credit to Alvechurch for that but we didn't offer enough and I was very disappointed with that.

"We didn't need to tweak too much tactically at half-time but it was more a case of getting the players where they needed to be mentally.

"I obviously didn't do that properly at the start of the game but we came out for the second half and showed a great reaction to what I said.

"The substitutes impacted really well and we had good control. We created a lot of chances and, although we only scored two, it's now back-to-back clean sheets in the league which is pleasing."

Pinchbeck face a tough midweek trip this evening (Tuesday) to United Counties League Division One leaders Retford.

The Knights played out a goalless draw in their home match with Gedling Miners Welfare at the weekend.

Grantham Town and Blackstones are also in action tonight (Tuesday) as they meet in a Premier Division North clash at the Meres.
