Holbeach United beat AFC Sudbury Reserves in the Thurlow Nunn League

Two goals in the final 19 minutes secured victory for Holbeach United against nine-man AFC Sudbury Reserves on Saturday.

Pat Kacirek and Ben Greenacre grabbed the goals for the Tigers as they returned to winning ways in Division One North of the Thurlow Nunn League.

Their Suffolk hosts had suffered their first dismissal in the 18th minute when Callum Wright was hauled down after bursting clear.

The home goalkeeper then saw red in the 65th minute for fouling Kyle Compton and Holbeach took full advantage.

Kacirek headed them into the lead from Ryan Cook's cross for his first Holbeach goal since joining from neighbours Pinchbeck.

Greenacre then sealed the win with 18 minutes remaining when he netted with a half-volley from the edge of the penalty area.

The victory leaves Holbeach in seventh spot ahead of Saturday's home match with Leiston Under 23s.

The Tigers have appointed Callum Lawe as the new reserve team manager of their Peterborough League side after Anthony Corrigan stepped down.

Corrigan took over the reserve team duties this season after leading Holbeach Sports to back-to-back wins in the Spalding Inter Services Cup during his tenure.

A club statement said: "We would like to thank Anthony for his hard work, leadership and commitment to the football club over the past few years.

"He leaves with his head held high and we wish him all the best going forwards."

Lawe will be assisted by Dan Lester with the duo also overseeing the Holbeach United Football Education Academy programme.

Lawe commented "I am excited to be returning to the reserves after establishing the Football Education Academy.

"Over the past two seasons we have seen great success in the youth set-up and now my focus is on strengthening the pathway to the first team.

"My goal is to develop more home-grown players and create a strong link between our academy and senior sides."

The Tigers' second string went down to a narrow 1-0 home loss against Whittlesey Reserves in the Peterborough League Premier Division on Saturday.
