Peterborough and District Football League round-up

The gripping race for the Peterborough League Premier Division title will be decided in the final week of the season.

Moulton Harrox are the new top flight leaders after overhauling long-time pacesetters and reigning champions Uppingham Town.

However, Harrox were held to a 2-2 away draw at Whittlesey Athletic Reserves on Saturday and, although they remain in the driving seat for the title, it means that they need to take four points from their final two games of the season.

Any slip-up from the new leaders could see three of the teams behind them - Uppingham, Crowland and Stanground Sports - all have the chance to take advantage.

Jacob Drew and Marcus Parry scored on Saturday for Moulton whose two remaining games are at home to Crowland tonight (Tuesday) before a trip to Oundle Town on Saturday.

Crowland are still in third place and will leapfrog Moulton if they win their final game of the season at Broad Lane this evening (6.30pm kick-off).

They won 1-0 at Sawtry on Saturday with Crowland now playing their last match under manager Gianni Salerno tonight.

Uppingham complete their campaign at the weekend with a trip to Wittering Premiair and are currently a point adrift of Moulton.

Fourth-placed Stanground Sports are also just three points behind Moulton having played the same amount of the games.

They host Whittlesey Reserves tonight (Tuesday) before a tricky final home game against Leverington on Saturday.

Stanground also boast the best goal difference which was boosted on Saturday by an 8-1 away win at Tydd.

Despite the defeat, the hosts avoided a bottom two finish with Netherton now at the foot of the table after completing their campaign.

Oundle are second-from-bottom and called off their match at Deeping Rangers Reserves on Saturday.

Holbeach Reserves rounded off their campaign at the weekend with a 2-0 home victory over Oakham United at Carter's Park.

That will ensure a 13th-placed finish in the 17-team division in manager Mark Greenacre's final season at the helm before he steps up to join the first team management ranks.

Moulton Harrox Reserves will wrap up the Division Four title with victory tomorrow night (Wednesday) in their home match with Elsea Park Eagles.

A Jack Forster hat-trick helped Harrox to a 4-2 away win at Stamford Lions Reserves on Saturday with Ashley Wilson also on target for the league leaders.
