South Lincs and Border League round-up




Curtis Todd took six wickets as Moulton Harrox made a winning start to their South Lincs and Border League campaign on Saturday.

Todd claimed 6-15 from his 7.5 over spell as Moulton beat Boston by three wickets in a low-scoring Championship clash.

New captain Matt Rose also returned 3-36 as Boston were bowled out for 84 after being put into bat by their visitors.

Rose then top-scored with 30 while opener Jamie Juckes made 20 as Moulton passed their target despite losing seven wickets.

Long Sutton were beaten by just one run in their first match back in the Championship following relegation from the Lincolnshire Premier League.

They had restricted hosts Newborough to 180-8 from their 45 overs with Charlie Crisp and Charith Harshana both taking two wickets each.

Josh Baker then hit an unbeaten 45 in the Long Sutton reply but eventually ran out of partners despite last man Jake Burton making 19 as he was bowled off the penultimate ball of the game with the visitors just short of their target.

Bourne 2nds were 39-run winners at newly-promoted Ketton Sports.

They were bowled out for 151 by their Rutland visitors before dismissing Sports for 112.

Dylan Garfoot was in superb form for Billingborough as they beat Moulton Harrox 2nds by 215 runs in Division One.

The opener smashed 15 fours and four sixes in his 78-ball 109 as Billingborough piled up 371-5 from their 45 overs.

David Newman (69), Aaron Green (60), Robert Arnold (53no) and Mikey Atkinson (38) also made strong contributions to the Billingborough cause.

Oliver Despicht took three wickets for Moulton who made 156-9 in their reply with Danny Jackson top-scoring on 48. Aaron Pullum was the pick of the Billingborough attack with 3-21.

Long Sutton 2nds lost by seven wickets in their home match with Heckington.

They were restricted to 133-7 from their 45 overs after batting first with Heckington passing their target inside 31 overs.

Spalding 2nds suffered a heavy 152-run reversal at Royal Boston in Division Two.

Sam Webster took three wickets as the home side made 200-8 from their 45 overs before Spalding were bowled out for 48 in reply.

Baston beat Royal Boston 2nds by 35 runs in their Group A clash in the Dave Morris Trophy.

Jules McAlpine top-scored with 60 while Dhruv Virani made 40 as Baston were bowled out for 174.

Simon Sherwin then took 5-21 as their visitors were dismissed for 139 in reply.

Billingborough 2nds lost to Grantham 3rds by 74 runs in Group B.

Barrie Light took three wickets as Grantham were bowled out for 196 with J Payne top-scoring with 36 in the Billingborough reply as they fell for 122.

Moulton Harrox made it back-to-back wins in Division Four East of the Rutland League on Sunday.

After last weekend's opening success over Market Overton, they defeated Royal Strikers by two wickets at Broad Lane.

Flynn McMillan took 5-23 from eight overs as their Peterborough visitors were bowled out for 133 after electing to bat first.

He then made 23 in the Harrox reply while Anish Suwarneraj top-scored with 27 as Moulton crept past their victory target.
