Stock car meeting at King’s Lynn will celebrate the 35-year career of Stu Brookes

Holbeach's Paul Vines will be making a rare track appearance as national banger racing returns to King's Lynn on Saturday.

Vines will have his first outing of 2024 in a meeting which is different to normal as it celebrates the 35-year career of Stu Brookes.

Known as 'Mr Bilge,' Stu has been a stalwart of the East Anglian circuits for three-and-a-half decades.

Dan Clarke will be back in action in the National Bangers at King's Lynn on Saturday.
Dan Clarke will be back in action in the National Bangers at King's Lynn on Saturday.

He has always had the attitude that entertaining the crowds comes first and often raced cars which other drivers would regard as uncompetitive as well as competing in caravan jumps and much more.

The meeting is known as 'Brookes Bilge Bonanza'.

Taking place over three formulas – Micro Bangers, 1600cc Bangers and 2L Bangers – drivers are not allowed to use cars which are regularly used in the formula but instead have to race something different.

Fans will be looking forward to seeing the different cars in action and it is the type of meeting that Vines will relish.

Since cutting back on his racing appearances, Vines has become a vital part of the marshalling team charged with keeping racing safe at King's Lynn.

But Saturday will see him swap his flags for his helmet once again and his on-track appearance is eagerly anticipated.

He is one of three South Lincolnshire area drivers in action at the meeting which gets underway at 5pm.

Following two great performances over the Whit Bank Holiday weekend in both the Unlimited Bangers and the Big Van Bangers, Dan Clarke will once again be back in action in the National Bangers and will be racing the Micro Banger class.

This is the type of fun meeting which Dan excels in and his fans will be looking forward to seeing him in action.

Also in action in the 2L Bangers will be Kavan Barton who is part of a Blue and Black entry for the meeting.

Barton's inclusion in the meeting is guaranteed to increase the on track action.
