Spalding United secure the services of Tyler Winters following his release from Peterborough United

Manager Elliot Sandy admitted he had to play the waiting game before bringing Tyler Winters back to Spalding United.

The talented teenager had a successful loan spell with the Tulips last season from Peterborough United.

He was released by the League One club at the end of last season and took his time to weigh up his options before agreeing to sign for the Southern League Premier Division Central newcomers.

Sandy explained: "For those who saw Tyler last season, it was obvious we would want him to stay.

"He had a lot of interest and options and we had to let him decide what was best for his career and we are delighted he's decided that's us."

Winters is the sixth new recruit for the Tulips following the additions of Tyrone Lewthwaite, Luke Johnson, Lewis White, Josh Ezewele and Jonathan Ngandu.

Twelve members of last season's title-winning squad have also agreed to return for the new campaign.

They are James Clifton, Glenn Walker, Kyle Barker, Sam Warburton, Nathan Stainfield, Sam Cartwright, Tony Breeden, Danny Draper, Joe Curtis, Lewis Hilliard, Jordan Graham and Sam Bennett.

Defender Stacey Freeman has departed the Tulips due to family commitments while Isaac Adegoke has joined Bromsgrove Sporting with Riley O'Sullivan switching to Harborough Town.

The Tulips kick-off their pre-season programme on Saturday with a home match against National League North newcomers Boston United.

The match against the Pilgrims is the first part of a stellar set of friendlies for Spalding who also host Peterborough United, Rotherham United and Macclesfield.

They entertain Posh on Tuesday, July 16, before welcoming Steve Evans' Millers to the Sir Halley Stewart ground on Saturday, July 20.

Former Leicester City and Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage will then be bringing his Macclesfield side to face Spalding on Tuesday, July 30.

Online ticket details have been released ahead of the games where club officials are anticipating large crowds and near capacity.

Prices for each game are £10 adults, £5 concessions, £3 children with Under 11s free. Should capacity not be reached, tickets will be sold on the day.

Online tickets include a small booking fee which is separated in the detail and is the charge to the club for the use of this facility and e-tickets.
