Stamford has received the Hollywood treatment as Warner Bros film crews descend on Burghley House which is understood to be doubling up as Batman's home Wayne Manor in new superhero film The Flash.

From fancy cars with blacked out windows entering through guarded gates to the extensive amount of film trailers set up in the car park, it is clear something unusual is taking place at Burghley House.

While security remain tight-lipped, it is believed Warner Bros is filming The Flash, an upcoming DC Comics superhero film set to be released in cinemas next year.

And visitors taking a stroll around Burghley Park this afternoon (Thursday, May 6) have heard the same rumours. It is believed Burghley House is acting as Wayne Manor - the home of Batman.

Christine and Philip Harwood are regular visitors to the park but have taken a few extra trips in recent weeks to catch a glimpse of the movie action.

"We think it's the new Batman and Robin film - we were told by our daughter-in-law," said Christine.

"We may watch it because of the Burghley interest but it isn't our type of film."

Yesterday, the pair witnessed machines produce smoke around the house which billowed across the park, while today a crane towered above the house with a large object in tow.

Anna Vardaro, who lives in Stamford, also believes they are filming for the 'new Batman film', adding that she feels happy to live here.

It is thought Burghley House will play the exterior of Wayne Manor, home of Bruce Wayne the alter ego of Batman.

While no celebrity sightings have been reported in the area, the film is tipped to star Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton as Batman, and Ezra Miller as The Flash.

For some, seeing Burghley teeming with film crews came as a surprise.

Debora Hagger and Dominique Barwell admitted they just 'thought the car park was really busy'.

However, after conferring with family members Dominique's mum passed on the information that the filming was for The Flash.

Warner Bros is yet to officially confirm if the filming is for The Flash.

Stamford-based health food restaurant, Aloha Foods, was reportedly called on to provide 300 meals for the film crew causing the business to sell out of food.

In a post on Instagram, Grant and Nathan Worthington, who run the restaurant in St John's Street, said: "So yesterday was unbelievable.

"Catering for Batman and the Warner Brother crew. It was a blast."

They added that they are running on a limited menu this week and thanked customers for the support.
