Coronation events in Stamford and Bourne
Town councils are taking charge of the coronation celebrations in Stamford and Bourne.
Stamford’s main celebration will take place on Monday, May 8 on the Recreation Ground.
A fun day will take place from midday until 5pm with live music, fairground rides and family entertainment.
Visitors can either take a picnic or buy refreshments on the day.
As part of the national “Big Help Out” campaign, there will also be an opportunity to meet representatives from local community groups to find out more about their work and how to get involved.
Stamford Civic Society is hosting a competition for shop window displays during the coronation weekend.
Bourne’s celebrations will begin on Saturday, May 6 when a beacon will be lit at the Wellhead, with the time still to be confirmed.
The town’s main event will be a community market and picnic on Sunday, May 7 in North Street.
Taking place between 10am and 4pm, there will street performers and family entertainment.
Visitors will be encouraged t6o take their own picnic table in an attempt to create the longest picnic table in South Lincolnshire.
Community groups will also be able to showcase their work, raise money and recruit new volunteers.
Pitches will be free but must be booked via the town council on 01778 426123.
