Community hub to open in Deeping St James run by the Deep in Kindness charity
A newly-registered charity which helps people in all aspects of life is preparing to open its own community hub.
The team behind Deep in Kindness have been working out of storage units and rented community buildings for the past four years but were desperate to find their own home.
Their search has been successful and next month the Deep in Kindness Community Hub will open in Bridge Street, Deeping St James.
The building became available following the closure of Lily Mae Homecare.
After receiving the keys two weeks ago countless volunteers have stepped up to get the building ready for opening.
Deep in Kindness founder Raechell Culff has a long list of services she hopes to offer including a warm space, a low-cost cafe and sessions in cookery, DIY, car maintenance and budgeting.
The hub will also be able to host other community groups.
Raechell said: “There will be lots of volunteering opportunities from organising events to assisting with community aid. Every contribution can make a big impact.
“We strive to support our community members during challenging times.”
The charity will need ongoing support from the community to meet its £1,500 a month overheads. The trustees hope to attract 52 businesses which can each sponsor the hub for one week of the year.
People who can lead skills sessions are also encouraged to get in touch.
