District nurse Candice leaves Bourne after 20 years

A district nurse who was awarded an OBE for her services to nursing is leaving her role in Bourne after 20 years of working within the community.

Candice Pellett has worked as a district nurse since 1995, working alongside the doctors at the Galletly Practice in Bourne and the community team at Bourne Health Clinic.

After 20 “memorable” years including receiving her OBE from the Queen in 2014, Candice is now moving on to a new role as project manager at the Queen’s Nursing Institute in London, which she will start on Monday.

Before she started on her new journey Candice’s friends and colleagues wanted to wish her well and organised a leaving party at the Wishing Well Pub in Dyke, where she was “showered” with flowers and cards wishing her the best of luck in her new job.

Candice, who lives in Spalding, said: “The last 20 years have flown by. I’ve felt a real part of the community and I will miss all of my colleagues and patients.

“As a community nurse I have been able to build up strong relationships with my patients and their families, so I will miss that side of the job.”

As well as being a district nurse, Candice has also been heavily involved in a number of national groups including the Prime Ministers Care and Quality Forum - representing community nurses and helping to bring a ‘voice’ to national level.

In her new post in London she will continue to help raise the profile of community nursing by offering her clinical knowledge.
