A pair of donkeys were the stand-out attraction at a care home's summer fun day.

The therapy donkeys worked hard giving children rides at Chater Lodge in Ketton on Saturday before one was taken into the care home to meet some of the Memory Lane residents who have dementia.

They were a big hit alongside the stalls, barbecue, raffle, tombola and entertainer Jeremy Hilliard.

Activities coordinator Annabel Mitchell said: "We try to involve our residents as much as possible in the planning and some of them manned the stalls for a while. It was a lovely day and we even managed to include some of those who can't normally get out of their rooms much."

The event raised £85 which will go towards the residents' fund. The fund has previously paid for an iPad, special trips and a reindeer visit at Christmas.
