Bourne firefighters set fundraising challenge to make a schoolgirl's Christmas wish come true

Firefighters have set themselves a challenge to make a little girl's Christmas wish come true.

The Bourne crew want to raise £1,600 to buy a special trike for Tallulah Tyler who has Prader-Willi syndrome.

The condition means Tallulah has learning difficulties, behavioural problems, weak muscles and developmental delay as well as a constant hunger which is managed by a strict diet.

The seven-year-old is desperate to join in with her younger brother Parker so has asked Santa to bring her a bike this year.

Unfortunately the specially-adapted trike comes with a big price tag, but the firefighters have stepped in to help.

Adam Dowsett said: "We just wanted to do our bit to help and we are so grateful to everyone who has supported us so far.

"We know there are lots of other charity things going on at this time of year."

So far the crews have hosted a pumpkin carving competition and are taking part in Movember, a charity drive to grow a moustache. Their efforts will be on show at Bourne Christmas market on Saturday (November 30) before being shaved off.

They are planning more activities before Christmas.

Tallulah's mum Tammy, of Great Northern Gardens, Bourne, said: “The bike will give her independence, help with her mobility and help her fit in with her friends.”
