General Election 2019: North West Cambridgeshire - Conservative Shailesh Vara

People are proud to live and work here and it is a privilege to call North West Cambridgeshire my home.

A vote for the Conservatives is a a vote to build on the achievements of the past few years and ensure our local area continues to thrive.

That means reducing business rates for local retail businesses and small pubs and protecting our high streets.

Investing in existing infrastructure, supporting sustainable economic growth and ensuring transport provision works for everyone including our more rural communities.

This election has been dominated by discussions about Brexit and it is important that we move on from the indecision of the past three years, moving forward with an optimistic vision for the future.

Boris Johnson has achieved what many people said he could not, reaching a new agreement that we can all support. A deal that ensures we are in charge of our money, laws and borders and provides the framework for a strong relationship with the rest of the world in the years ahead.

While the Conservatives are the only Party in a position to deliver on the referendum result, this election is about so much more than Brexit. Through sound economic management, a Conservative government will be able to invest in the public services we all rely upon.

Providing an additional £14 billion over the next three years will ensure better primary and secondary education and equal opportunity for all children to reach their potential. We will also establish a new £1billion fund to create more high quality and affordable childcare.

We will put 20,000 more police officers on the streets because everyone should feel safe.

As Conservatives, we believe passionately in the NHS and will provide extra funding with 50,000 more nurses and 50 million more GP appointments, to ensure everyone has the peace of mind that a world class health care system provides.

With sound economic policies and an absolute commitment to strong public service provision, a vote for the Conservatives is a vote for a One-Nation government and a secure future for us all.
