EAGA Gospel Choir perform in Stamford at 29 London fundraiser for Trussell Trust foodbank

A gospel choir helped raise the roof of a town church and also raise much-needed funds for a food charity.

The award-winning EAGA Gospel Choir performed a programme of festive showstoppers to 280 guests at St Martin’s Church, in Stamford, on Saturday.

Communications agency 29 London, which has a branch in Broad Street, hosted the event for the second year running as a pre-Christmas fundraiser for the Trussell Trust’s Stamford and Oundle Food Bank.

The 20-piece ensemble, which was named Gospel Choir of the Year by BBC TV show Songs of Praise in 2023, turned the aisles into a dancefloor with soul-stirring classic Christmas carols and uplifting gospel anthems.

The night was supported by event sponsors Stamford Eats and Seven Bespoke Joinery.

“We’re over the moon about how the night unfolded,” said Francesca Donnellan, director of 29 London.

“The energy, the singing, the dancing – it was truly unforgettable. And to top it all off, we raised funds that will make a real difference in our community this holiday season. Thank you to everyone who brought the magic to life.”

Pastor Samuel, choir director of the EAGA Gospel Choir, added: “St Martin’s Church is always a special place to perform, and this night was no exception.

“The audience brought incredible warmth and enthusiasm, making it a night to treasure. We’re honored to have been part of this magical celebration.”
