Stamford group marks Fairtrade Fortnight




Stamford Fairtrade Town Group joined a "dine with a difference" event at Stamford College to mark Fairtrade Fortnight.

More than 40 people enjoyed the meal prepared by college students before listening to guest speaker Nasrin Sharifi.

As founder of the charity Power for People, she spoke about the organisation's work in Kenya and Uganda, and in particular its efforts to empower women.

Founder member of the Stamford Fairtrade Town Group, George Hetherington, led an appeal to raise £40,000 to help the charity install a solar powered well.

Nasrin said: " My thanks for the warmth, enthusiasm and generosity of the Stamford community towards our projects."
