Family of Bourne roof fall teen Jack Osborne share video and photos of his 'miraculous' recovery

A teenager critically injured in a 25ft horror fall has been taking his first steps after waking from a two-week coma.

Jack Osborne’s recovery has been described by his family as “the stuff of miracles” as he is already moving around, talking and remembering.

They have shared a heart-warming video of the 14-year-old walking on his hospital ward with dad Dan and waving to mum Karina.

His uncle, Nick Thompson, said: “Jack is coming on leaps and bounds. He was sending his mum some emails from an iPad at hospital last week, telling her how much he missed her and that he loved her. It was so good.

“I’ve been FaceTiming Jack too, and he was telling me that he loves me, and misses me. I also asked if he was taking care of his mum while she was there and he replied with a video telling me that of course he’s taking care of mummy. What a little beauty!”

The Bourne Academy pupil fell from the roof of a barn on a derelict site near Harvey Close in the town on June 9 suffering severe brain trauma, a bruised lung and broken collarbone.

He was rushed to Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) in Nottingham where he was placed in an induced coma and emergency surgery was carried out to relieve pressure on his brain.

His condition was so grave that the following day the family had Jack baptised as they were warned he might not survive.

But against all the odds he began waking up from his coma after just over two weeks and has been making steady progress ever since.

Nick said: “Three weeks ago we were having him baptised, ready to say goodbye to him after the doctors told us to prepare for the worst, and now he’s emailing, FaceTiming, and telling us that he loves us and misses us. He also blew kisses to me too which is just brilliant!”

Jack is also said to be tucking into solid food, including fish pie and his mum’s famous sandwiches. He is also drinking blackcurrant juice through a syringe.

“It’s absolutely incredible progress!” said Nick. “There is a camp bed next to his bed for either his mum or dad to sleep in while they are there with him, and the other night Jack wanted to sleep in the camp bed so his mum could have his bed. He’s such a caring and thoughtful boy.”

A Go Fund Me page has already raised more than £4,000 towards Jack’s ongoing rehabilitation. To donate and help out his family, visit www.gofundme.com/f/pray-for-jack
