Laugh your way to health in Spalding with yoga teacher Linda
People in Spalding are invited to find out about the “the healing power of laughter” at a unique fitness event next week.
But unlike The Joker in the 1989 movie Batman, Linda Nightingale is promising nothing but good things when she holds a Laughter England Day at The Pennygate Foundation, Pennygate, Spalding, on Monday, June 6, from 11am until noon.
Linda, of Beech Avenue, Bourne, took up laughter yoga after both her husband and daughter suffered serious illness and when she found out about the work of “laughter yoga guru” Dr Madan Kataria of India.
“Laughter is so good for helping to boost your immune system and for de-stressing you, so I’m encouraging people to share in something that has helped me so much,” Linda said.
“When you laugh, you expel a lot more oxygen than you normally would and so you have more room in your lungs for fresh oxygen.
“As a laughter threapist, I get people to join in with fake laughter and other exercises until they can’t help themselves which is when it becomes real laughter.”

The laughter yoga session is free, but donations are welcome to be shared between The Pennygate Foundation and Cardiomyopathy UK.
