Liberal Democrat candidate Kevin Thomas has won the Whissendine seat on Rutland County Council.

A by-election was held yesterday (Thursday, March 3) to fill the seat left vacant by Sam Asplin, who stood down in November due to ongoing health issues.

Mr Thomas was elected with 265 votes and will serve as a Rutland County Councillor until the next round of normal elections.

Christopher Clark (Con): 109 votes

Marietta King (UKIP): 33 votes

Kevin Thomas (Lib Dem): 265 votes - ELECTED
