Lorry driver extinguishes fire using bottles of water

Fire crews were called to a fire on the A1 southbound at Colsterworth to a lorry fire.

Crews from Grantham and Corby Glen were called at 7.50am to the lorry fire. The blaze caused severe damage by fire to the rear brakes on the refuse lorry.

It was extinguished before crews arrived by the lorry driver, using bottles of water.

The cause was fault within the brake system.
