Deeping St James Community Primary School held a Christmas fair

Pupils and parents joined in with festivities during a primary school’s annual Christmas market.

Deeping St James Community Primary School held a Christmas market featuring fairground rides, festive stalls and games and a raffle with a prize of £100 donated by the company Linden Homes.

Father Christmas could be found in his grotto, and plenty of stalls meant that people could pick up last minute gifts.

The market was organised by the school’s parent-teacher association. Becky Barrett, chairman of the organisation, said it was particularly important the event went ahead after being cancelled due to covid last year.

She said: “It is absolutely crucial for the children to have some normality and we all know how much Christmas means to them. It was wonderful to see their faces light up when they saw Father Christmas and got to enjoy all the festive activities.

“The event is also a great opportunity to spread the word about our school and to show new starters that it is a fun place to be.”

As well as donating the £100 top prize, Linden Homes also provided branded water bottles to give out as prizes.

Other raffle prizes included a day pass to Grimsthorpe Castle.
