Mixed martial arts class free for teens in Bourne

Kickboxing and karate could be the key to tackling street crime.

Piston MMA, a new martial arts school in Bourne, was founded by Nik Loizou and Craig Lyon after they were inspired to shift some calories post-pandemic.

They have now opened up classes for free to teenagers aged 14 to 18.

Living in Bourne, Nik and Craig want the classes to encourage teenagers to ‘get off the streets’.

The pair hopes the classes will be ‘fun yet challenging as well as a safe space to train’ and that ‘instances of antisocial behaviour and criminality may decrease’ as a result.

The open mat grappling sessions are every Thursday at the Universal Fitness Centre in Cherry Holt Road in Bourne.

Any young people who want to try mixed martial arts can go to the free sessions and learn.

For adults, the first session is free and £6 after that.
