Verysafe UK uses products to prevent coronavirus
A new business will be using its products to save lives and protect people from coronavirus.
Verysafe UK, which was set up by Stamford man Jorge Rodrigues, works to supply and install antimicrobial coatings. They protect the surface by mechanically killing any bacteria, such as Covid-19, to prevent the spread for 90-days after application.
Jorge said: “It provides a harsh environment especially for Covid-19, as it’s an envelope virus.
“With Covid once it gets inside it’s an issue but whilst outside it’s quite fragile especially on surfaces coated with our product.”
Verysafe UK is a distributor for Swedish company, HydroSilex, which has been providing coatings in the automotive and textile industry for 30 years.
Jorge, who was previously in the medical profession, was set to retire later this year but decided to embark on a new challenge.
“I told the company I worked for in January I’m going to retire towards the end of the year but that was before Covid, when it was still just in China and no-one was talking about it. When Covid came along I thought this is bad and that I don’t want to retire in a pandemic.
“I realised there’s an opportunity to do good. The more we can get people to know there’s a product that can help reduce cross contamination and infection the better.”
Jorge hopes to work with schools and offices to apply the coatings throughout the buildings.
The 58-year-old said: “It’s so gratifying and important because it gives a real sense of achievement helping people.
“I’m enjoying it because I believe I’m doing something that’s good.”
Currently the product is undergoing testing to evaluate the level of longevity on a 30-day, 60-day and 90-day period with the coronavirus strain.
