Rutland Youth Choirs launches in Oakham for primary school children

New choirs have been set up to inspire young children to sing.

At Rutland Youth Choirs, based in Oakham, children can learn to sing in a range of musical styles, receive music theory tuition and go on trips.

Susie Hill, the musical director, said: “We can't wait to bring together young people from across the area and to hear them sing as a group for the first time.

“We have lots of exciting plans for the coming academic year, including local performances and opportunities to experience masterclasses with amazing professional musicians.

“We hope lots of families will get involved.”

Young Voices is for children in school years one to four and Junior Choir is for school years five to eight.

The choirs, which don’t require children to audition, rehearse in All Saints’ Church, Oakham on Wednesdays in term-time after school, starting on September 13.
