Violin maker prepares to open a shop in Stamford

A violin maker is opening a new shop in Stamford which she hopes will become a "destination location" for musicians across the country.

Libby Summers has played the violin since childhood and has just completed a four-year course in violin-making at a college in Newark.

Last year she set up her Stamford Strings business and has been operating from her house in Stamford.

But now the time has come to move into new premises in St Leonard's Street.

Libby said: "My house is bursting at the seams and I just need the space back.

"The shop will allow me to expand and attract new business. I really want it to be a destination location where people will travel to, knowing I am selling great violins."

Libby will sell her own instruments along with those of other reputable makers. The business will also offer instrument servicing.

She said: "I've already had enquiries from people who have found an old violin in the loft or taken it up during lockdown."

The shop will open later this month.
