Oakham was named the eighth best place to live in the countryside by The Sunday Times on Sunday (July 29).
The article as part of a supplement said the county "packs in plenty", including its "smart Georgian architecture, an imposing gothic church, a Normanton castle and a platter of top-notch food and drink".
The Grainstore Brewery, Hambleton Bakery, Otters Fine Foods deli and the Castle Cottage Cafe all got a mention; while Rutland Water was also mentioned as a destination for watersports, walking and birdwatching with the upcoming Birdfair mentioned.
