Oakham chocolate shop is the second branch of Stamford Heavenly Chocolates

A chocolatier has reported a roaring trade since opening a new shop in Oakham.

Stamford Heavenly Chocolates opened in Mill Street on Saturday with two Oompa Loompas on hand to welcome the customers.

They gave out mini Wonka Bars to shoppers and also had a few golden tickets up for grabs.

Owner Barbara Farrow described the town as being at “the top of the list” when it came to finding a destination for her second branch.

The business operates from Sacrewell Farm where the products are made and the team host chocolate-making workshops.

Barbara said: “The opening weekend was fantastic. It was lovely to see everyone and to hear their comments about the shop.

“They seemed really pleased that we’re here and said Oakham needed something like this.

"I don't think there is anything like us in the area."

The opening was a huge milestone after the difficulties faced during the pandemic.

Barbara created a range of exclusive truffles for the Rutland shop, including raspberry and pistachio, blueberry cheesecake, dark chocolate mint and strawberry champagne.
