Personal care service will help vulnerable people

A new personal care service will launch on Monday to support vulnerable people in and around Stamford.

Evergreen Care Trust has trained some of its staff to become ‘Florence Carers’ in order to expand the range of services it offers.

The carers will be able to help people with all aspects of personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, catheter care, skin care and medication.

Named after Florence Nightingale, the service will focus on good old-fashioned care in the home.

Evergreen’s chief executive Louise Marsh has introduced the service following demand from current
clients.

She said: “We are delighted to be launching Florence Care, our full personal care service, which is designed to focus on what really matters to those who may need this intervention to stay happy and safe at home.”

Staff hope the service will allow even more people to live independently in their own home for longer. It focuses on the areas of personal care which can be challenging and make people feel
isolated.

The four Florence Carers have undergone specialist training in addition to the level three health and social care qualifications which they already hold.

The service will be available in Stamford everyday between 7am and 10pm. It is hoped the scheme can eventually be rolled out across Bourne and the
Deepings.

As a not-for-profit charity Evergreen offers a range of free and paid-for services to help older and vulnerable people in the
community.

Alongside the new personal care scheme, other popular paid-for services include a home support service to help with household chores, well-being support and a holiday package to keep an eye on people when their family are away.

The free services include cleaning, hand and nail care, befriending, hospital to home transport and advocacy to help with household administration.
