Nursing staff at Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will be joining in the celebration of International Nurses Day on Tuesday, May 12.

The annual event is an international celebration of nursing which takes place on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.

Nurses from around the Trust will host a stand in the main atrium at Peterborough City Hospital from 9am-2pm.

The team will be celebrating the role of nurses across all specialities and the reasons behind their chosen careers.

At Stamford Hospital there will be a nearly new sale containing items donated by staff and volunteers. All funds raised will support nursing colleagues at Kisiizi Hospital in Uganda.

Jonathan Jones, orthopaedic consultant, recently returned from two weeks at Kisiizi Hospital where he carried out charitable healthcare.

He said: “This is a great opportunity to celebrate the fantastic work that nursing teams around the world undertake every day.”
