Poundland has announced the opening date for its new Stamford store

Poundland has announced the opening date for its new Stamford store.

The company will open its doors at 9am on Saturday, July 10 at the Markham Retail Park on Ryhall Road.

Poundland previously had a branch in High Street but is closed in 2014. No reason for the closure was given at the time.

The new shop has created 20 jobs.

It will sell the Pep and Co clothing range, homeware, chilled and frozen foods, snacks, drinks, health and beauty products and everyday essentials.

Poundland retail and transformation director, Austin Cooke, said: “We’ve been keen to come back to Stamford and it’s great to have a new store that showcases the best of what Poundland has to offer.

“It’s been seven years since we were last here. We’ve changed so much in that time and think customers old and new will love our ranges, from essentials to clothes and homeware, all at our amazing value.”

Builders have been working on site at the former Argos premises since May to prepare for the opening.

The building has been empty for 12 months since Argos closed in May last year.

Shoppers can now collect their Argos orders from the first floor of the neighbouring Sainsbury's store at the retail park.
