Racing for life at Stamford Welland Academy
More than 350 staff and students at Stamford Welland Academy took part in a Race for Life event before the end of term.
The event, organised by PE teacher Sarah Campling, was held in warm conditions on Wednesday, July 18.
It started with a themed warm-up in the main hall before the 2.5 mile route, which started on the school field and included a local field belonging to farmer Andrew West.
Bottles of water were kindly donated by Morrisons supermarket in Uffington Road and the school’s catering company Pabulum donated oranges to have at the finish line.
The day finished with lessons on cancer and how the money will be used.
Money is still coming in but the event so far has raised £2,433.61.
The Justgiving page is open until September for any last minute donations.
Miss Campling said: “It was a pleasure to organise such an amazing event that is close to many people’s hearts.
“Watching our students share their own personal stories and club together on the day was fantastic. Our original target was £1,000 so I am over the moon with the amount of money we have been able to raise!”
