Grainstore Brewery in Oakham wins at the SIBA Business Awards

A brewery team is celebrating its success after clinching several industry awards.

The Grainstore Brewery in Oakham was recognised in the SIBA Business Awards, which highlight the best beer businesses across the UK including breweries, pubs, taprooms and bottle shops.

The beers are judged by independent industry experts, and organised by not-for-profit trade association the Society of Independent Brewers.

The Grainstore's Nip was awarded Overall Champion Cask Beer of 2023 and a gold medal in the Cask Imperial and Strong Beers 6.5 per cent category.

The Rutland Beast was awarded a silver medal.

Owner Peter Atkinson said: "We were hopeful that Nip would do well but it was terrific to win.

"We brew predominantly for pubs, restaurants and shops so to be recognised by the industry in this way is quite important to us as a business."

Nip was introduced in 1997 and is described as a true barley wine. It won the same SIBA title in 2019.

A new beer, C3R, will soon be released for the coronation of King Charles.
