Uppingham School enters partnership to build a new school in Cairo, Egypt
Teenagers will be able to forge international links following the announcement that their school is to build a new branch in Egypt.
Uppingham School has entered a partnership with New Era Education to develop and build Uppingham Cairo - a new coeducational school in the city.
It will open in September 2024 and aims to "create exciting pathways throughout the global Uppingham community".
Headmaster of Uppingham School, Dr Richard Maloney, said: “As a historic school dedicated to delivering 21st century education, we are excited and honoured to be opening a school in Cairo – one of the largest and most important cities in the Middle East – in partnership with New Era Education.
“Uppingham Cairo will bring myriad opportunities to pupils in Egypt and the wider region, as well as everyone who is part of the global Uppingham community.”
The overseas school will boost Uppingham's bursary programme and offer Rutland pupils greater interaction and collaboration with their peers overseas.
Uppingham Cairo pupils will be offered the international baccalaureate diploma and A levels.
A signing ceremony between Uppingham School and New Era Education took place at the foot of the Great Pyramids of Giza, one of the seven wonders of the world.
