Met Office issues yellow weather warning for snow and ice today affecting Rutland and parts of Lincolnshire including Stamford, Grantham, Spalding and Bourne and Storm Bert to bring weekend disruption




The Met Office has warned wintry showers and icy patches could cause disruption.

A yellow warning for snow and ice has been issued which lasts from 12pm today (Thursday, November 21) to 10am tomorrow (Friday, November 22).

It covers Rutland and much of Lincolnshire including Stamford, Grantham, Spalding and Bourne.

Wintry showers are expected to cover parts of the Midlands, with 2cm to 5cm of fresh snow possible.

Icy stretches may form on untreated roads during Thursday evening and overnight into Friday morning as temperatures drop below freezing.

Over the weekend high winds are also forecast, with gusts expected to reach speeds of up to 46mph.

Storm Bert will reach the UK on Saturday, bringing heavy rain and snow, together with strong winds to large swathes of the country.
