International Women’s Day event drew a good turnout in Stamford

Women representing healthcare, the military, campaigning and business rubbed shoulders at an event for International Women’s Day.

Held at the William Cecil in High Street St Martin’s, speakers included Carys Vaughan who has campaigned against the redevelopment of Quarry Farm, north of Stamford; Wing Commander Nicola Duncan, who is station commander at RAF Wittering; Charlotte Williams, the deputy chief executive of Peterborough and Stamford hospitals; and former UK Rotary president Debbie Hodge.

The event included a buffet breakfast and was organised by The Rotary Club of Stamford.

Mary Dowglass, organiser, said it was a first for Stamford, adding: “The general conclusion of all 40 participants is that this should be repeated every year to celebrate locally and remind ourselves of the global aspects of International Women’s Day.”
