Stamford man Kye Bateson admits disorderly conduct after "foolish incident brought on by drink"

After drinking all night, a Stamford man put on a balaclava and went to a woman's house, banged on the window and shouted he was going to "burn the house down" and threatened to shoot her.

Kye Robson Bateson, 34, of Torkington Street admitted disorderly conduct when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court on October 31.

The court heard he went to an address in Lambeth Walk at 7am on September 30, wearing a balaclava, and banged on a window of the house shouting and swearing, before removing the balaclava and walking away.

The woman in the house recognised him as she had known him for 20 years, said Marie Stace, prosecuting.

Bateson told police he had been drinking beer and vodka all night and had then decided to retaliate for a previous incident involving the house owner and admitted he had intended to frighten her, but claimed it had been "a foolish incident brought on by drink".

Mitigating, Philippa Chatterton said there had been an element of provocation and it had not been a long standing incident.

Bateson was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.
