Catalytic converters stolen from cars in Stamford and Bourne

An increase in catalytic converter thefts has sparked a police warning.

Two catalytic converters were stolen from cars last week in Stamford and Bourne.

A Honda Jazz was targeted in Queen's Walk, Stamford and another was taken from a Lexus hybrid in Spa Chase, Bourne.

Sgt Emma Crisp of Lincolnshire Police said: "If you can put your car in a garage make sure you do.

"If you can't, make sure you park in a way which makes it difficult to access the underneath of the car."

People can register their converter and mark it with a forensic marker to make it harder for thieves to dispose of.

Catalytic converters are fitted to vehicle exhausts to reduce the amount of dangerous gases emitted.

They are often targeted by thieves as they contain valuable metals and can be removed in a short period of time.
