Thousands of women braved heavy rain to complete the Race for Life event at Burghley House this morning (Sunday, May 31).

Women of all ages battled through the 10km and 5km courses in the difficult conditions to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Dressed heavily in pink, many of the participants had loved ones in their minds as they ran or walked around the course.

Last year, 3,343 women took part in Race for Life in Stamford and helped raise an incredible £201,000 for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work. This year, the charity hopes to match that figure.

For those unable to take part in the Stamford event, there will be a 5km race at Ferry Meadows in Peterborough on Tusaday, July 7, at 7.30pm.

And Race for Life’s new Pretty Muddy obstacle course will be taking place at Peterborough Arena on Sunday, June 21, at 10am.
